Rotoscope Practice

Final Project Treatmet

For my final project in animation I plan on creating a 1 minute animation depicting the adventures of Karate Kitten. I have been nursing a rescued kitten lately and while playing with my computer the kitten straight up kicked me while attempting to clean itself. The act was so laughable that it inspired me to create the character of a karate wielding kitten who tackles his foes with awesome, kicking power.

I am very interested in Flash and I hope to accomplish this project with said program. I feel that it will be useful in the long run and this project would force me to learn it well. I will create my images in Photoshop and manipulate them in either Flash or After Effects (hopefully Flash).

Cucalorus Bumper

Hey Everybody!

Here's my Cucalorus Bumper. It's not exactly what I wanted because of time constraints but I think that it turned out well.



I painted most of the landscapes, though a few objects were rotoscoped. The sound comes from soundsnap.com and incompetech.com. The hardest part was actually trimming down the scenes so that the bumper wouldn't be too long.

Rotoscope Sample

Hey Y'all! My ten seconds of rotoscoping is of the line "He brought home the Olympic belching gold medal for the United States." I am using footage from a weightlifter and other Olympic scenes (crowd, Medal Ceremony). Here is a sample of my rotoscope along with the original picture. I really like the simplicity of the skin and uniform. The belch lines are optional.
